the post of Adjunct (R2)
in the Department of Soil Science Erosion and Land Conservation

  1. Name and job description including European classification:
    Recognised Researcher (R2) researcher with a doctoral degree. The profile applies to individuals who are not fully independent researchers.
  2. Scope of research work:
    • Researching the physical and chemical properties of soils as well as the processes and dynamics of their changes based on the spectral properties of soil samples;
    • Developing prognostic models of physical and chemical parameters of soils based on the spectral properties of soil samples;
    • Developing and improving methods for preventing soil degradation;
    • Mapping physical and chemical properties of soils using GIS systems;
    • Performing statistical and chemometric analyses and knowledge of statistical software;
    • Performing soil spectral analysis – knowledge of software for spectral analysis;
    • Disseminating scientific accomplishments, including publications and active participation in scientific life.
  3. Conditions to be met by the candidate:
    1. Mandatory requirements:
      • Doctoral degree in the field of agricultural, biological, chemical or related sciences.
      • Achievements in previous scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of 100 parametric evaluation points according to the list and scoring of journals of the the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (at least 3 publications in journals covered by the Journal of Citation Report), whereas at least 24 points were gained after obtaining the degree of doctor of science.
      • Developing and submitting a research project to NCN, NCBR or other research financing institution.
      • Motivation for scientific work documented by publications and participation in scientific life (including scientific internships, participation in conferences).
      • Fluency in English in speech and writing, confirmed by FCE certificate or an equivalent document (according to Journal of Laws of 2011, No. 204, item 1200).
    2. Walcone skills:
      • Knowlegde of addiotonal foreign language;
      • Experience in field work;
      • Function of a reviewer in high-value journals (IF);
  4. Professional development prospects:
    1. Adjunct may be promoted to the post of Institute Professor after fulfilling of the following conditions:
      • For an adjunct holding a postdoctoral or doctoral degree in agricultural, biological, chemical, economic or related sciences:
        • Readiness to undertake research issues justified by the needs of the Institute.
        • Managing an original grant or an equivalent project financed from external funds.
        • Domestic or foreign scientific internship or comparable cooperation with a foreign
          research institution documented by joint projects and/or scientific achievements.
        • Achievements in the training of scientific staff – acting as a promoter in at least one
          doctoral thesis instituted.
        • Achievements in the hitherto scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship
          of scientific publications with a total value of 300 parametric points according to
          the list and scoring of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education .
        • Achievements in educating of the academic staff – acting as a promoter in at least
          one PhD program.
        • Achievements in previous scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of
          scientific publications with a total value of 300 parametric evaluation points
          according to the list and scoring of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher
          Education.
        • Activity in scientific life and organizational skills (reviews of publications and/or
          research projects, organization and participation in conferences, organization of
          workshops, courses, etc.)
      • For an adjunct holding a doctoral degree:
        • Demonstration distinguished scientific achievements in the represented field with a total value of at least 250 points based on the evaluation according to the list and scoring of journals from the list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
        • Performing the function of an auxiliary promoter in at least one PhD program
        • Demonstrating recognized organizational achievements in the implementation and dissemination of research results
        • The candidate’s qualifications shall be assessed by the Scientific Council based on the opinions of two reviewers, including one from outside the Institute.
    2. Adjunct professors may be promoted to the position of professor after fulfilling the following conditions:
      • the academic title of professor in agricultural, biological, chemical or economic sciences;
      • willingness to undertake research issues justified by the needs of the Institute;
      • achievements in previous scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of at least 450 points based on the evaluation according to the list of journals from the list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
      • Participation in the training of scientific staff – acting as supervisor in at least two doctoral dissertations, reviewing doctoral theses and in habilitation and professorship proceedings.
  5. Remuneration range for this post:
    • PLN 2600.00 to  5500.00 per month

in the Department of Biochemistry and Crop Quality

  1. Name and job description including European classification:
    First Stage Researcher (R1) until obtaining the PhD degree. This profile covers persons conducting scientific research under supervision in research universities or research institutes. It applies to candidates until the award of the PhD degree.
  2. Scope of research work:
    • Studies on the chemical structure, activity and practical feasibility of the use of biologically active substances specific to plants,
    • Determination of the influence of environmental, agritechnical and genetic factors on the qualitative and quantitative composition of substances affecting the nutritional value of cultivated plants,
    • Testing of post-extraction vegetable waste for use in animal nutrition and in the manufacture of food supplements,
    • Study of the influence of biotic and abiotic factors on the chemical composition of plants,
    • In vitro biosynthesis of natural compounds,
    • Improvement and development of methods for the determination of the content of selected plant components
  3. Conditions to be met by the candidate:
    1. Mandatory requirements:
      • Master’s degree in the field of agricultural, biological, chemical, or related sciences.
      • At least 2 years of experience in scientific and research work or in professional work thematically connected with the research area (eg doctoral, post-doctoral studies, scientific internship).
      • Achievements in previous scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of at least one scientific work and presentation of research results (lecture, poster).
      • Predispositions to scientific work.  (participation in scientific projects)
      • Documented knowledge of a foreign language in speech and writing, documented with minimum B2 certificate.
      • Ability to use computer hardware and knowledge of basic office software (Word, Excel, Power Point).

      • Ability to handle and interpret NMR results

        • Domestic or foreign scientific internship or comparable cooperation with a foreign research institution documented by joint projects and/or scientific achievements.
        • achievements in the training of scientific staff – acting as a supervisor in at least one doctoral thesis initiated,
        • achievements in previous scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of at least 300 points based on the evaluation according to the list of journals from the list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education,
        • Achievements in educating of the academic staff – acting as a promoter in at least one PhD program.
        • Achievements in the hitherto scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of 300 parametric points according to the list and scoring of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education

      • Practical knowledge of the operation and use of Thermo, Bruker and Waters mass spectrometers.
      • Practical knowledge of liquid chromatography (HPLC), ultra efficient liquid chromatography (UHPLC), gas chromatography (GC) and capillary electrophoresis (CE) techniques with detection by mass spectrometry, enabling development and validation of advanced analytical methods.
      • Knowledge of mass spectrometry software (Bruker Compass, Hystar, Data Analysis, Thermo Xcalibur and Waters MassLynx).
      • Knowledge of data processing software from non-directed and targeted metabolic experiments: Bruker ProfileAnalysis, Bruker TASQ, XCMS, MetaboAnalyst.

Information clause on the processing of personal data of the person participating in the selection procedure

With reference to the content of Article 13 of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) – (OJ EU.L 119 of 04.05.2016, p. 1 and OJ EU.L 127 of 23.05.2018 p. 2 hereinafter the „Regulation” – The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute in Puławy informs that:

  1. The administrator of your personal data is The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute (address: ul. Czartoryskich 8, 24-100 Puławy, tel. 81 4786 700 or 800, e-mail: iung@iung.pulawy.pl).
  2. The Data Controller has appointed a Data Protection Officer with whom you may contact in matters concerning the processing of your data and the exercise of your rights in relation to the processing of your data, through the e-mail address: iod@iung.pulawy.pl, telephone number – 81 4786 738, or in writing to the postal address of the Personal Data Controller indicated in section 1.
  3. Purposes of processing and legal basis for processing:
    • Your personal data, to the extent indicated in the provisions of the labour law (Article 221 of the Labour Code and § 1 of the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 28.05.1996 on the scope of keeping documentation by employers in matters related to the employment relationship and the manner of keeping the employee’s personal file) will be processed by the Administrator of personal data on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) of the Regulation in order to conduct the recruitment procedure for the position.
    • Article 6(1)(c) of the Regulation, the processing is necessary for the fulfilment of a legal obligation incumbent on the controller – Act of 16 December 2016 on the principles of state property management. The source of personal data will be information and documents provided by the data subject.
    • With regard to data not required by law – the legal basis for processing will be your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the Regulation). Your consent can be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out before its withdrawal.
  4. Period of processing – personal data will be processed until the end of the qualification process.
  5. Recipients of the data – your data may be accessed by authorised employees of the Administrator – members of the selection board.
  6. Rights related to data processing – You have the right to access your data, to request rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, to object to processing, to data portability, in the cases specified in the Regulation.
  7. Consent to the processing of personal data can be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out before the withdrawal.
  8. If you consider that the processing of your personal data violates the provisions of the Regulation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Data Protection Authority.
  9. Information on automated decision-making and profiling – The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute in Puławy will not use your data for automated decision-making and profiling.
  10. The provision of personal data contained in the application for the post is voluntary, but is a condition to proceed with the procedure of the said selection procedure. The personal data obtained will not be transferred to a third country/international organisation.
