the post of Professor (R4) in the Department of Herbology and Plant Cultivation Techniques in Wrocław

  1. Name and job description including European classification:
    Leading Researcher (R4) independent researcher, with a post-doctoral degree with research experience of more than 10 years (years counted as in full-time employment). Independent researcher with the academic degree of professor.
  2. Scope of research work:
    • Development of limit values for assessing the abundance of microelements in the soil
    • Establishing recommendations for fertilisation with crop micronutrients
    • Introduction of computerised fertiliser advice, with particular emphasis on micronutrients
    • Studies on the response of plants to heavy metals
    • Research into ways to reduce phytochemical availability of metals from contaminated soils
    • Research on the use of by-products and waste materials in agriculture and the remediation
      of metal contaminated soils
    • Phytoremediation of metal contaminated soils
    • Determining the composition of new mineral fertilisers for the fertiliser industry and testing
      their yield-forming efficiency
    • Research on new phosphorus fertilisers to reduce phosphorus run-off into waters
    • Combined application of foliar fertilisers and herbicides in the field cultivation.
  3. Conditions to be met by the candidate:
    1. Mandatory requirements:
      • A post-doctoral degree in agricultural, biological and chemical sciences
      • Readiness to undertake research issues justified by the needs of the Institute,
      • Management of a research project or an equivalent undertaking financed from external funds,
      • Domestic or foreign scientific internship, or comparable, documented by joint projects and/or scientific achievements, cooperation with a foreign research institution
      • Achievements in the training of scientific staff – acting as a promoter in the initiated, at least one, doctoral programme
      • Achievements in scientific work to date, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of at least 300 points, based on the evaluation according to the list of journals from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s list
      • Activity in scientific life and organisational skills (reviews of doctoral dissertations and habilitation proceedings and publications and/or research projects, organisation and participation in conferences, organisation of workshops, courses, etc.).
    1. Additional skills useful for the position:
      • Knowledge of the world literature on trace elements in agriculture with particular
      • Skills to analyse data statistically: variance analysis, multivariate analysis (cluster analysis, PCA method), multiple regression
      • Skills to use the Statgraphics computer program
      • Skills to visually recognise nutrient deficiencies in plants under field conditions, with particular emphasis on microelements.
  4. Prospects for professional development:
    • The position of professor may be promoted if the following conditions are met:
    • Professor’s title in the field of agricultural, biological, chemical or economic sciences.
    • Readiness to undertake research issues justified by the needs of the Institute.
    • Achievements in scientific work to date, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific
      publications of a total value of at least 450 points based on the evaluation according to the

the post of Assistant (R1)
in the Department of Agricultural Microbiology

  1. Name and job description including European classification:
    First Stage Researcher (R1) until obtaining the PhD degree. This profile covers persons conducting scientific research under supervision in research universities or research institutes. It applies to candidates until the award of the PhD degree.
  2. Scope of research work:
    • Evaluation of the metabolic profile of microorganisms; knowledge of the system Biologist and skills in analysing the data obtained,
    • Evaluation of genetic diversity and identification of soil microorganisms (PCR, Real-Time PCR, PCR-DGGE); knowledge of the basics of bioinformatic processing of NGS data,
    • Assessment of microbiological diversity and soil biological activity related to agricultural practice and environmental protection, especially the soil environment
    • Evaluation of various microbiological, biochemical and mobile fractions of organic matter as indicators of soil fertility and health and analysis of the influence of various agrotechnical treatments on these indicators.
  3. Conditions to be met by the candidate:
    1. Mandatory requirements:
      • a master’s degree in biological, microbiological or biotechnological sciences,
      • professional experience – minimum 3 years’ experience in a microbiological and/or
        genetic laboratory. An additional advantage would be the practice in a genetic
        laboratory, especially in the field of metagenomics. Extended knowledge of genetics
        and metagenomics, in particular regarding bioinformatic processing (amplicon
        sequencing analysis),
      • motivation for scientific work documented by publications, active implementation of
        research projects and participation in professional life (including training, participation
        in conferences, membership in scientific societies),
      • documented knowledge of the English language,
      • skills to operate scientific research equipment in the field of microbiology and
        molecular biology
      • Knowledge of the Polish language at a basic level will be very appreciated.
  4. Professional development prospects:
    1. An assistant may be promoted to the position of an adjunct after fulfilling the following conditions:
      • Obtaining doctoral degree in the field of agricultural, biological, chemical or related sciences.
      • Achievements in scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of 100 parametric evaluation points according to the list and scoring of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (at least 3 publications in journals covered by the Journal of Citation Report), whereas at least 24 points were gained after obtaining the degree of doctor of science.

        • Achievements in the hitherto scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship

        • Demonstrating recognized organizational achievements in the implementation and dissemination of research results
        • The candidate’s qualifications shall be assessed by the Scientific Council based on the opinions of two reviewers, including one from outside the Institute.
    3. Adjunct professors may be promoted to the position of professor after fulfilling the following conditions:
      • the academic title of professor in agricultural, biological, chemical or economic sciences;
      • willingness to undertake research issues justified by the needs of the Institute;
      • achievements in previous scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of at least 450 points based on the evaluation according to the list of journals from the list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
      • Participation in the training of scientific staff – acting as supervisor in at least two doctoral dissertations, reviewing doctoral theses and in habilitation and professorship proceedings.

  3. Purposes of processing and legal basis for processing:
    • Your personal data, to the extent indicated in the provisions of the labour law (Article 221 of the Labour Code and § 1 of the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 28.05.1996 on the scope of keeping documentation by employers in matters related to the employment relationship and the manner of keeping the employee’s personal file) will be processed by the Administrator of personal data on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) of the Regulation in order to conduct the recruitment procedure for the position.
    • Article 6(1)(c) of the Regulation, the processing is necessary for the fulfilment of a legal obligation incumbent on the controller – Act of 16 December 2016 on the principles of state property management.   6. Rights related to data processing – You have the right to access your data, to request rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, to object to processing, to data portability, in the cases specified in the Regulation.
  7. Consent to the processing of personal data can be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out before the withdrawal.
  8. If you consider that the processing of your personal data violates the provisions of the Regulation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Data Protection Authority.
  9. Information on automated decision-making and profiling – The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute in Puławy will not use your data for automated decision-making and profiling.
  10. The provision of personal data contained in the application for the post is voluntary, but is a condition to proceed with the procedure of the said selection procedure. The personal data obtained will not be transferred to a third country/international organisation.
