Assistant
in the Department of Fertilization and Nutrient Management


Name and description of the position in accordance with the European classification:

First Stage Researcher (R1) This profile covers persons conducting research under supervision at research universities or research institutes. It applies to candidates until they obtain a doctoral degree, or

Recognised Researcher (R2) a researcher with a master’s or doctoral degree. This profile applies to persons who are not fully independent researchers.

Scope of research work:

Requirements to be met by the candidate
Mandatory requirements:

    1. Master’s degree or doctoral degree in agricultural sciences or earth sciences, biological sciences, chemical sciences and related disciplines.
    2. Willingness to undertake research issues justified by the needs of the Institute.
    3. At least 2 years of experience in scientific and research work, or in professional work related to the field of research (e.g. postgraduate or doctoral studies, scientific internship, participation in research teams).
    4. Achievements in previous work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of at least 40 points, based on an assessment according to the list of publications of journals from the MEiN list, and presentation of research results at conferences or scientific workshops (paper, poster).
    5. Aptitude for scientific work (e.g. willingness to seek new solutions in agriculture through experimentation and confrontation with the literature, participation in research projects, presentation of research results at scientific conferences and workshops).
    6. Ability to work in a team.
    7. Documented knowledge of spoken and written English.
    8. Ability to use computer equipment and knowledge of basic office software.

    Additional skills useful for the position:

    1. Foreign research internship and/or participation in an international research project.
    2. Experience in conducting field and pot experiments (planning, setting up and operating experiments, collecting plant and soil samples).
    3. Ability to perform statistical data analysis and use statistical software.
    4. Knowledge of fertilisation needs and methods and the impact of this treatment on plants, soil and the environment.
    5. Knowledge/ability to use scientific literature on fertilisation and agricultural environmental protection.
    6. Teaching skills (e.g. conducting training courses, classes with students/pupils)
    7. Category B driving licence.

    Career development prospects:
    An assistant may be promoted to the position of assistant professor after meeting the following conditions:

    1. Hold a doctoral degree in agricultural sciences or earth sciences, including biological, chemical, economic and related sciences.
    2. Achievements in previous scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of at least 300 points calculated (for the entire evaluation period) on the basis of the current list of journals and publishers of peer-reviewed scientific monographs, announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (at least 3 publications in journals indexed by the Journal of Citation Report), of which at least 70 points were obtained after obtaining a doctoral degree.
    3. Preparation and submission of a formally correct research project to the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development or another research funding institution.
    4. Motivation for academic work documented by publications and participation in academic life (including serving as an assistant supervisor, academic internships, participation in academic conferences)
    5. Documented knowledge of spoken and written English.

    An assistant professor may be promoted to the position of professor at the institute after meeting the following conditions:

    2. The personal data controller has appointed a data protection officer whom you can contact in matters relating to data processing and the exercise of your rights in relation to data processing, via e-mail: iod@iung.pulawy.pl, telephone number  +48 81 4786 738, or in writing to the correspondence address of the personal data controller indicated in point 1.
    3. Purposes of processing and legal basis for data processing
      • Your personal data within the scope specified in labour law provisions (Article 221of the Labour Code and § 1 of the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 28 May 1996 on the scope of documentation kept by employers in matters related to the employment relationship and the manner of keeping employee personal files) will be processed by the Personal Data Controller pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (processing necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests pursued by the controller).1996 on the scope of documentation kept by employers in matters related to the employment relationship and the manner of keeping employee personal files) will be processed by the Personal Data Controller pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) of the Regulation for the purpose of conducting the recruitment process for the position of assistant professor.

    4. Period of personal data processing – personal data will be processed until the end of the recruitment process.
    5. Data recipients – your data may be accessed by authorised employees of the Controller – members of the selection committee.
    6. Rights related to data processing – you have the right to access your data, request its rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, object to processing, and transfer your data in the cases specified in the Regulation.
    7. Consent to the processing of personal data may be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out prior to its withdrawal.
    8. If you consider that the processing of personal data violates the provisions of the Regulation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
    9. Information on automated decision-making and profiling – The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute in Puławy will not use your data for automated decision-making and profiling.
    10. Providing personal data in your application for the position is voluntary, but it is a condition for entering the recruitment process. The personal data obtained will not be transferred to a third country/international organisation.
