announces a competition to fill the position of Assistant in the Department of Crops and Yield Quality

Name and description of the position in accordance with the European classification:

First Stage Researcher (R1) This profile covers persons conducting scientific research under supervision at research universities or research institutes. It applies to candidates until they obtain a doctoral degree, or

Recognised Researcher (R2) a researcher with a master’s or doctoral degree. This profile applies to persons who are not fully independent researchers.

Scope of research work

1. Developing research projects (national and international)
2. Conducting pot, micro-plot and field experiments
3. Assessment of current challenges facing agriculture and identification of opportunities and limitations in their implementation resulting from applicable law, strategies and international agreements
4. Analysis and compilation of results obtained in experiments
5. Publishing research results in scientific journals
6. Presenting research results at scientific seminars and conferences
7. Participation in training courses organised by the Institute and external entities
8. Participation in research and work carried out by the Department

Requirements to be met by candidates
Mandatory requirements:

1. Master’s degree or doctoral degree in agricultural sciences or related fields
2. Willingness to undertake research issues justified by the needs of the Institute,
3. Authorship or co-authorship of at least two scientific publications from the list of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education,
4. At least 2 years of experience in scientific and research work, or in professional work related to the field of research (e.g. postgraduate or doctoral studies, scientific internship, participation in research teams),
5. Aptitude for scientific work (e.g. willingness to seek new solutions in agriculture through experimentation and comparison with the literature, participation in research projects, presentation of research results at conferences and scientific workshops)
6. Ability to statistically process research results, analyse obtained data and prepare publications,
7. Documented knowledge of spoken and written English,
8. Knowledge of plant growth and development (weeds and crops)
9. Ability to work in a team,
10. Category B driving licence.

Career development prospects:
The assistant may be promoted to the position of assistant professor after meeting the following conditions:

1. Hold a doctoral degree in agricultural sciences or earth sciences, including biological, chemical, economic and related sciences.
2. Achievements in previous scientific work, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of at least 300 points calculated (for the entire evaluation period) on the basis of the current list of journals and publishers of peer-reviewed scientific monographs, announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (at least 3 publications in journals indexed by the Journal of Citation Report), of which at least 70 points were obtained after obtaining a doctoral degree.
3. Preparation and submission of a formally correct research project to the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development or another research funding institution.
4. Motivation for scientific work documented by publications and participation in scientific life (including acting as an assistant supervisor, scientific internships, participation in scientific conferences)
5. Documented knowledge of spoken and written English.

An assistant professor may be promoted to the position of professor at the institute after meeting the following conditions:

Criteria for candidates with a postdoctoral degree:

• Postdoctoral degree or doctorate in agricultural sciences or earth, biological, chemical, economic and related sciences.
• Willingness to undertake research issues justified by the needs of the Institute.
• Management of a research project or equivalent undertaking financed from external funds.
• Domestic or foreign research internship, or comparable, documented by joint projects and/or scientific achievements, cooperation with a foreign research institution.
• Achievements in the education of scientific staff – acting as a supervisor in at least one doctoral thesis.
• Achievements in scientific work to date, including authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications with a total value of at least 900 points calculated (for the entire evaluation period) on the basis of the current list of journals and publishers of peer-reviewed scientific monographs, announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
• Activity in scientific life and organisational skills (reviews of doctoral dissertations and habilitation procedures, publications and/or research projects, organisation of and participation in conferences, organisation of workshops, courses, etc.).

Criteria for candidates with a doctoral degree:

• Demonstration of outstanding scientific achievements in the field represented, with a total value of at least 900 points calculated (for the entire evaluation period) on the basis of the current list of journals and publishers of peer-reviewed scientific monographs, announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
• Acting as an assistant supervisor in at least one doctoral programme.
• Recognised organisational achievements in the implementation and dissemination of scientific research results (e.g. obtaining a patent or documented implementation).
• Qualifications are assessed by the Scientific Council on the basis of the opinions of two reviewers, including one from outside the Institute.

• Remuneration of an employee hired as an assistant:

• The basic salary ranges from 105% to 220% of the applicable minimum wage.
• In the case of participation in research programmes or projects, the employee receives additional remuneration as provided for in the IUNG-PIB Company Collective Labour Agreement.

6.  A statement that the Institute will be the primary place of employment upon commencement of employment,

IUNG-PIB employees are not required to submit the documents listed in points 4, 6 and 7.

Competition results and employment:

• The results will be announced no later than 2 weeks after the end of the competition,
• The Institute will employ the candidate from the 1st day of the month following the announcement of the competition results and a positive opinion from the Scientific Council of IUNG-PIB.
• The Institute has implemented and maintains the standards of the European Charter for Researchers and the principles of the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and the OTM-R policy, in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations of the European Commission.

2. The personal data controller has appointed a data protection officer whom you can contact in matters relating to data processing and the exercise of your rights in relation to data processing, via e-mail: iod@iung.pulawy.pl, telephone number − 81 4786 738, or in writing to the correspondence address of the personal data controller indicated in point 1.
3. Purposes of processing and legal basis for data processing
   • Your personal data within the scope specified in labour law (Article 22^{(1) of}the Labour Code and § 1 of the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 28 May1996 on the scope of documentation kept by employers in matters related to the employment relationship and the manner of keeping employee personal files) will be processed by the Personal Data Controller on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) of the Regulation for the purpose of conducting the recruitment process for the position of assistant professor.
   • Article 6(1)(c) of the Regulation, processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject — the Act of 16 December 2016 on the principles of state property management. The source of personal data will be information and documents provided by the data subject.
   • With regard to data not required by law, the legal basis for processing will be your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the Regulation). Consent may be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to its withdrawal.
4. Period of personal data processing – personal data will be processed until the end of the recruitment process.
5. Data recipients – your data may be accessed by authorised employees of the Controller – members of the selection committee.
6. Rights related to data processing – you have the right to access your data, request its rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, object to processing, and transfer your data in the cases specified in the Regulation.
7. Consent to the processing of personal data may be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out prior to its withdrawal.
8. If you consider that the processing of personal data violates the provisions of the Regulation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
9. Information on automated decision-making and profiling – The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute in Puławy will not use your data for automated decision-making and profiling.
10. Providing personal data in your application for the position is voluntary, but it is a condition for participating in the recruitment process. The personal data obtained will not be transferred to a third country/international organisation.
