In accordance with the Organisational Regulations and Order
No. 020-53/2026, announces a competition to fill the post of an adjunct  (R2) (M/F/X)
at the Department of Microbiology

Job title and description in accordance with the European classification:

Recognised Researcher (R2) – a researcher holding a doctoral degree. This profile applies to individuals who are not yet fully independent researchers.

Scope of research work

1. conducting scientific and research activities in the field of microbiology, with particular emphasis on research into bacterial and fungal endophytes.
2. assessing the potential of endophytes as agents supporting crop production and biological plant protection;
3. assessing microbial diversity and biological activity in soils in relation to agricultural practices and environmental protection, particularly the soil environment
4. assessment of various microbiological and biochemical parameters as indicators of soil fertility and health
5. assessment of the metabolic profile of microorganisms
6. assessment of the genetic diversity and identification of soil microorganisms, including the use of modern research methods, encompassing microbiological, molecular and genomic techniques, as well as biochemical and microscopic analyses.

Requirements for candidates
Essential requirements:

1. a PhD in agricultural sciences and/or related fields
2. professional experience – at least 5 years’ experience working in a microbiological/genetic laboratory.
3. experience in leading a research team and managing research projects
4. a commitment to scientific work, demonstrated by publications and participation in professional activities (including training and attendance at conferences)
5. ability to operate scientific and research equipment in the fields of microbiology and molecular biology
6. familiarity with the Biolog system and the ability to analyse the data obtained,
7. knowledge of general microbiology, particularly concerning bacterial cell biology.
8. documented knowledge of English,
9. fluent command of Polish, both spoken and written.

5. a list of publications and other academic achievements,

7. a statement confirming that, upon taking up employment, the Institute will be the candidate’s primary place of work,
8. consent to the processing of personal data.

Employees of IUNG-PIB are not required to submit the documents listed in points 4, 6 and 7

Prospects for professional development:

1. An adjunct may be promoted to the post of Professor at the Institute upon fulfilling the following conditions:
   1. in the case of an adjunct holding a postdoctoral degree or a doctoral degree in the fields of agricultural, biological, chemical, economic or related sciences:
      • willingness to undertake research topics justified by the Institute’s needs.
      • leading a research project or equivalent undertaking funded from external sources.
      • a domestic or international research fellowship, or comparable collaboration with a foreign research institution, documented by joint projects and/or research output.
      • achievements in the training of research staff – acting as a supervisor in at least one doctoral programme that has been initiated.
      • achievements in their research work to date, including authorship or co-authorship of research publications with a total value of at least 300 points, based on the assessment according to the list of journals published by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
      • activity in the academic community and organisational skills (reviewing doctoral theses and habilitation proceedings, as well as publications and/or research projects; organising and participating in conferences; organising workshops, courses, etc.).
   2. In the case of an adjunct holding a doctoral degree:
      • demonstration of outstanding academic achievements in the relevant field, totalling at least 300 points based on an assessment according to the list and scoring system of journals from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) list;
      • acting as a co-supervisor in at least one doctoral thesis;
      • possession of recognised organisational achievements in the implementation and dissemination of research results (e.g. obtaining a patent or documented implementation);
      • qualifications are assessed by the Scientific Council on the basis of the opinions of two reviewers, including one from outside the Institute.
2. An adjunct may be promoted to the post of professor upon fulfilling the following conditions:
   1. a professorial academic title in the fields of agricultural, biological, chemical or economic sciences;
   2. willingness to undertake research topics justified by the Institute’s needs;
   3. achievements in their academic work to date, including authorship or co-authorship of academic publications with a total value of at least 450 points, based on an assessment according to the list of journals published by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
   4. involvement in the training of academic staff – acting as a supervisor in at least two doctoral programmes, reviewing doctoral theses, and participating in habilitation procedures and procedures for the award of the title of professor.

Remuneration of an employee holding the post of assistant professor:

• The basic salary ranges from 125% to 250% of the applicable minimum wage.
• Where an employee participates in research programmes or projects, they receive additional remuneration as provided for in the IUNG-PIB Collective Agreement.

Form, deadline and place for submitting documents:

The required documents must be sent by post, marked ‘competition for the post of adjunct at the Department of Microbiology  to the Institute’s address (Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation– State Research Institute, 24-100 Puławy, street Czartoryskich 8) or submitted in person at the Institute’s Human Resources Department from Monday to Friday between 7⁰⁰ to 15⁰⁰ or by email to: kadry@iung.pulawy.pl by 15 September 2026.

The results will be announced no later than two weeks after the conclusion of the selection process.

The Institute may employ a staff member from the 1st day of the month following the announcement of the competition results. Please note that the Institute has implemented and maintains the standards of the European Charter for Researchers and the principles of the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, as well as the OTMR policy, in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations of the European Commission.

• Competition results and appointment:
• The results will be announced no later than two weeks after the conclusion of the competition procedure,
• The Institute will employ the successful candidate from the 1st day of the month following the announcement of the competition results and a favourable opinion from the Scientific Council of IUNG-PIB,
• The Institute has implemented and maintains the standards of the European Charter for Researchers and the principles of the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, as well as the OTM-R policy, in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations of the European Commission.

2. The data controller has appointed a data protection officer, whom you may contact regarding matters relating to data processing and the exercise of your rights in connection with such processing, via email at: iod@iung.pulawy.pl, telephone number − 81 4786 738, or in writing to the personal data controller’s postal address specified in point 1.
3. Purposes of processing and the legal basis for data processing
   • Your personal data, to the extent specified in labour law (Article 22^{(1) of}the Labour Code and § 1 of the Regulation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 28 May1996 on the scope of documentation to be maintained by employers in matters relating to the employment relationship and the manner of maintaining employees’ personal files) will be processed by the Data Controller pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) of the Regulation for the purpose of conducting the  selection process for the position of Company Chairman.
   • Article 6(1)(c) of the Regulation: processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject — the Act of 16 December 2016 on the principles of state property management. The source of the personal data will be information and documents provided by the data subject.
   • With regard to data not required by law, the legal basis for processing will be your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the Regulation). You may withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out prior to its withdrawal.
4. Duration of personal data processing – personal data will be processed until the end of the selection process.
5. Recipients of the data – authorised employees of the Controller – members of the selection panel – may have access to your data.
6. Rights relating to data processing – you have the right to access your data, to request its rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, to object to processing, and to data portability, in the cases specified in the Regulation.
7. Consent to the processing of personal data may be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out prior to its withdrawal.
8. If you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes the provisions of the Regulation, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection.
9. Information on automated decision-making and profiling – The Institute of Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation– State Research Institute in Puławy will not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
10. The provision of personal data contained in the application for the post is voluntary, but is a condition for taking part in the recruitment procedure in question. The personal data obtained will not be transferred to a third country or an international organisation.
